We are so excited to welcome Lola, a 16-year-old Moluccan cockatoo, who will be a “frequent flyer” at Barton Bird Care. Lola greets everyone with a sweet “Hi Lola” and loves her pickles. She enjoys snuggling on your chest and often honks like a goose, hence her new nickname “love goose.” When she is concerned, she stretches her long neck out, looking even more goose-like. Lola is a big bird with a big presence, a big cage and a big appetite. She seems to thrive in our sunroom where she is part of the hustle and bustle of our family and flock often contributing a big belly laugh. We enjoy her so much!
Moluccan cockatoos can live for 40-60 years, a big commitment! They require recreation, a healthy diet of fresh fruits and vegetables and lots of companionship and training…not to mention all of the cage cleaning! Of course, even the most responsible and loving owners may encounter unforeseen circumstances over the lifespan of their parrot making it difficult to provide the very best care for their bird each and every day. Barton Bird Care believes that all birds are worthy of living enriched lives and that the wellbeing of parrots (and their owners) matters. We are here to help! If you find yourself needing to travel frequently, facing a new medical condition or simply remodeling your bathroom or cleaning your oven give us a ring!
